Passionate that each of her clients deserves the home of their dreams
while remaining within a pre-determined budget, Cindy Larsen is known for design and architectural problem-solving through a streamlined and collaborative process. After having successful experiences at several Seattle area architectural firms, Cindy started Bassett Larsen Design
in 1985. During many years of working exclusively with Westhill, Inc. in a Design-Build relationship, Cindy honed her listening-focused process and demonstrated that this approach works wonders when coupled with a team attitude towards construction.
Many of her projects have been
recognized by professional groups and awards, but the satisfaction of her
clients and acknowledgements from homeowners and home builder partners are the recognitions valued most. For Cindy, it is rewarding to help homeowners, including repeat clients, through the design process to attain the desired outcome in an enjoyable way.
LISTENING
TEAMWORK
MANAGING
COMPLEXITY
Listening is the most important initial tool and skill for an architect. Success begins with a client’s ideas and dreams for how they want to live and work in their space. After investigating the site parameters and any existing structures, the subsequent goal is to interpret the client’s ideas and requests into a visually pleasing structure. Creativity is essential to this phase, particularly when rising to the challenge of making ideas a reality within a defined budget framework. Ultimately, the role shifts to generating plans for construction, while collaborating and coordinating with other professionals, in a timely and budget-sensitive manner.
You did give us our dream home.
I’m happy to be a reference for you.
We LOVE our home!! We could not have been more pleased with you and how you made our hopes into realistic visions…in really only a few drawings! Also…you didn’t shove your vision of what we should build…but listened so well.
— ANN H.
Homeowner
Successful projects employ teamwork between the client, the architect and the contractor. Bassett Larsen Design can work either as a member of the team, or as a design sub-contractor to a builder member of the team. Regardless of the structure of the relationship, teamwork that is focused on achieving client goals is essential to the success of designing and building a project.
I am working with another architect.
Working with you is so much better.
Thanks for all your great work!

Construction Project Manager
Complexities involved in solving today’s design and permitting issues, including environmentally sensitive areas, energy considerations, restrictive zoning and drainage rules, require experienced investigation and proven reliable ability to obtain permits. Cindy has experience throughout Seattle neighborhoods and almost every suburban jurisdiction, and a consistent record of obtaining neighborhood approvals, zoning approvals and building permits. Additionally, challenging zoning variances have been earned in Seattle, Bellevue, Medina, Mercer Island and Lake Forest Park.
