This example of a 1970’s “tri-level” was in need of an update inside and outside. The effort was complicated by an asymmetrical facade with the existing windows being oddly offset from the garage doors. The owners hoped to turn the house into a 4 level home with a new master bedroom addition over the one-story portion, remodel the kitchen, and also transform the dated curb appeal with a “face lift”. To accomplish all that, the roof pitch was changed, a new entry porch was added, and the kitchen was opened up and updated. To disguise the asymmetrical garage façade, a trellis with vines was added above the garage doors to easily correct this glaring feature of the original design.
