The whole family enjoyed being in the Kitchen, but it was cramped and had an awkward traffic pattern and no family area. The owners wanted a kitchen island but wanted to be able to retain their breakfast table as well. An addition into the back yard gave area for a Family Room, and creating a larger island with an expanded round seating area at one end allowed the owners to abandon the breakfast table altogether. They love the change!
